In Service To Our Community
Seattle Dharma Punx sangha strives to be active and engaged in our local community, and to practice compassion and service in a variety of charitable or volunteer projects. Below are just a few of the organizations that our sangha members support.
Teen Feed serves over 10,000 meals each year to more than 400 homeless youth and young adults in the University District neighborhood of Seattle. SDPx does meal prep, service and cleanup for Teen Feed the third Monday of every month at the University Lutheran Church. Email for more info.
Prison Dharma- Seattle Dharma Punx sponsors the Buddhist program at Olympic Corrections Center in Forks, Washington. Email for more information.
Camp Ten Trees is a non-profit summer camp in the Pacific Northwest featuring a week for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth and their allies, and a week for children of LGBTQ families. Our programs are for youth connected to the LGBTQ community and provide opportunities for each camper to strengthen inner courage, make new friends, and develop leadership skills through traditional camp programming. Bent Arts: A Queer Writing Institute whose mission is to promote and encourage written and spoken word among LGBTQ people and in our communities. Bent began as the dream of a queer poet longing for a bigger community of queer writers, and now the institute holds five classes in performance poetry, general writing, and fiction/memoir at its Capitol Hill classroom. Bent's teaching model focuses on support, anti-oppression, and liberation through voice and word. Email for more information.
Join Us
We meet every Sunday night from 7:00-8:30pm at All Pilgrim's church on Broadway & Republican on Capitol Hill. Seattle DPx is donation-based, and open to everyone regardless of tradition or level of experience. All are welcome. Bring yourself. Bring a cushion. Bring a friend full of greed, hatred, and delusion.
